Information on the Internet
about breast cancer and Black and Hispanic women
Black women
are likely to be less aware of the risks of breast cancer than white woman,
according to a Harrison poll published on September 26, 2002. AS a result they
are less likely to get mammograms. Hispanic women have the same lack of
awareness. Both black and Hispanic women are less likely than white women to
know "what mammograms are." These results were found in a
"nationwide survey of 522 adult American women conducted for the Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation by Harris Interactive(R)," conducted by telephone.

The degree of unawareness is especially a problem because "African American
and Hispanic women are more likely to die from breast cancer than White women."
