Dick's Guide to FIGHTING BACK
return to Welcome to Dick's Guides or Dick's Guide's Free Service for Research Reports and Questions or Dick's Guide Resource Library or Money Making Opportunities for Students or How Older American Politicians, Lawyers and Bureaucrats Screw Young People, all the time
FIGHTING BACK You can fight back, against the law, lawyers, corporations, politicians and "the system." First, understand why the system is so powerful. It's amazing how so few people can control so many of us. This has always been true. For centuries people have lived in far worse circumstances than we do, and they suffered all sorts of indignities without revolution. Most people are decent, working hard to survive and, hopefully, prosper. They need an orderly society and they're willing to pay a price for it. They sacrifice freedom to get an orderly society. Good old Josef Stalin and Adolph Hitler had the obedient support of most of their citizens. It's this universal desire for an orderly society that enables a small handful of people, usually politicians, military men, lawyers and big business leaders, to control the many. For political and corporate systems to survive, they must allow methods for safe venting. When people really get upset, when the revolutions occur, it's usually because there's more pressure than the vents can take. The difference between a dictatorial totalitarian society, like Stalin's USSR, and an open democratic society like Clinton's USA, is in the number and types of vent holes. Stalin's citizens had none. Americans have many. There would be no lid on top and no need for vent holes in a truly free society. But, that's another web page. Now, let's get onto real business. You have a gripe. You're unhappy and you want to fight back. This page will guide you to ways you can fight the system; ways you can make use of existing, legal, vent holes. Fight back against the federal political system One way to fight back is to immediately send an email message to your federal representatives. Those Senators and Representatives who are in Washington, supposedly to represent you! You do have power! American politicians have two goals. The prime goal is to survive and remain in elective office. The second goal is to enrich themselves, their families and their paying supporters, often at the expense of the American taxpayer. It's unlikely that you will be able to personally put up enough money to get a federal politician to listen to you, but a $50 check to a local state candidate might get you very good access. For now, however, let's focus on how YOU can have impact on federal politicians, without money. You have two personal routes to influence elected federal officials. Personal contact and personal campaigning. Voting for federal candidates, except in close elections, has little value -- unless you vote for a third party with ideas you find acceptable. Strong third party showings often result in the Democrats or Republicans adopting the third party ideals. You can, within minutes from now, send an email message to almost any federal political office holder in America. Simply push the button below. EMAIL HALL OF SHAME Henry Waxman can only be reached by phone or fax On State issues you can also fight back by contacting your state legislators. Here's how to find them. CALIFORNIA You can also fight back against your broker, and protect yourself from potential brokers with NASD Regulation's Web Site but this site seems to have been put together by the brokers themselves. All brokers and their firms that do a public securities business have to belong to the NASD. In other words, the NASD is a self-regulatory organization. If you wish to learn more about the NASD, go here, or the section for investors here. To get a report on a broker will require you to have a lot of information, including the broker's middle initial and his number. You can fight back if you get a speeding or traffic ticket with Dick's Guide to Fighting Speeding Tickets
