What is knowledge?  Is it self knowledge, knowledge of the world, today, or specific academic knowledge from American History to World History; from accounting to zoology?  Or is your search just for some specific knowledge?   Today, you are lucky!  Not too long ago the search for knowledge within your home was limited to the books you owned.  If you were able to afford a good encyclopedia you had a general survey of knowledge within your grasp.  Of course, as soon as the encyclopedia had been written, it was out of date,  Our European ancestors were even worse off!  Until Diderot and d'Alembert produced the first encyclopedia (1751) few but the wealthy had access to instant knowledge.
