Some time ago I found out that there were legitimate (as well as phony) offers for free
vacations. I took many of them, which always required me to attend about a one hour
tour of some vacation resort selling timeshare. While I started taking vacations at
places knowing I would NOT buy anything, I found I did -- in fact -- buy timeshare.
That's an important fact because the timeshare marketing people long ago discovered that
people would take the vacations, not intending to buy, but then fall in love with the
location and -- occassionally -- buy. That's why timeshare people spend a lot of
their advertising dollars on giving away free vacations. While they only sell to a
fraction of the people who visit, that fraction of sales is sufficient to keep them
financially healthy. BUT, you are under NO obligation to buy. In all my
trips I have never found any hostile pressure of any sort. In fact, after your tour,
while the the sales people would like you to buy, they are also glad to hear you say,
"I love (hate) this place. I am not going to buy!" A clear statement from
you is helpful becaue this lets the sales person get on with another tour with someone who
MAY buy.
I have MANY different legitimate packages to provide you for free accomodations at
Washinton, D.C., in Orlando, at various Florida beaches, or other places -- like Hilton
Head, South Carolina and (soon) Puerto Vallarta. Once I have your phone number I will have
two (at most three) people contact you. Each of the two (or three) people who will call
you have provided me -- and my clients -- with legitimate vacation offers and good service
in the past. You will hear from each (or all three) of them. They ARE competitiors for
your business. They have various packages. The packages change often. Tell them what YOU
want, and see who provides the best match. You should feel free to take one or more
vacations from the peope I will have call you. In this way you can get multiple vacations
and/or extended vacations.
The Fairfield Resort folks often offer you low cost, rather than free, vacations.
However, they do tend to put you up in pretty good locations and give you some nice
benefits when you pay the small $39 to $59 amount they ask -- which is for the entire
stay, whether you are a family of four or simply a couple. Fairfield insists that you have
at leats a $40,000 a year annual income.
